What’s happened?

The Ripple Project, together with the Craigentinny Community Centre Management Committee, local residents and community partners, lead a community consultation to explore the future of Craigentinny Castle and its surrounding area.

Our aim is to develop a shared vision for how centre can serve the community for years to come — shaped by the ideas, experiences, and creativity of the people who know the area best.

Update - July 2026

Between October and June, a six-month programme of community engagement was undertaken to explore the future of Craigentinny Castle. The engagement sought to understand what local people value about the castle, how they imagine its future, and what activities, experiences and opportunities they would like to see developed within and around the building.

More than 150 contributions were received through a range of engagement activities designed to reach different sections of the community.

Now we are analysing the key pieces of information and developing the report - watch this space!

We’ve had great conversations with people from: Craigentinny Centre Social Nights; St Ninians Primary School; S1 youth group; Craigentinny and Meadowbank Community Council; and many others!
